Phishing

You get an email that appears to be from your financial institution. It tells you that your account is in jeopardy if you don't update your information or confirm their information. You think, it's from my credit union or bank, surely I can trust this! You see the link to sign up. You click on it. It takes you to a page that looks just like your financial institution's website. You definitely think it's safe now. They ask you to enter important financial information, like your credit card number, the expiration date, the CVV2 (those three little numbers on the back of your card). So of course you do it, you don't want to get those emails! You enter all the information and before you know it, tons of money has been taken from your credit card! You've been scammed! This particular internet scam is known as phishing. This email didn't come from your credit union or bank. It came from dishonest people that want to steal from you. Your financial institution has all they need regarding you credit card information. Do NOT give your credit card number, expiration date, and the CVV2 to anyone, unless you are absolutely sure it is safe.
